Honest tailoring

Your resume, tailored to each job description. Nothing invented.

HirecraftApp rewrites your resume's summary and bullets for one posting at a time, in the posting's own vocabulary, for work your resume already shows. Every change sits beside the original line with a switch, and the rules that keep it honest are checked in code after the AI answers, not just asked for.

What the rewrite changes

Most resumes undersell a real career. Good work turns into a flat list of duties, and someone reading for a few seconds never finds out what any of it was worth. Tailoring fixes the telling, not the facts:

  • The wording, so your lines use the vocabulary the posting keeps repeating.
  • The order, so the experience this particular role cares about is read first.
  • The framing, so a task you performed reads as a result you delivered.
  • The layout, a clean single page that a parser and a tired human both make it to the end of.

It also uses the posting’s spelling for skills you already list, so Postgres on your resume becomes PostgreSQL when that is what the posting says, and it suggests an order for your skills.

What it will never touch

Job titles, employers, dates, degrees and certifications are never rewritten. The rest is held to rules that are checked mechanically after the rewrite, in every mode. A line that breaks one is marked Blocked, with the reason, and cannot be switched on:

  • A rewrite may not add a number, percentage or duration the original line did not contain, or drop one it did.
  • It may not change a number's size, unit or time base: 500 cannot become 500k, and 2M records cannot become 2M records a day.
  • A rewrite more than twice as long as the original is refused unless it stays within 320 characters, and so is an empty one.
  • A tool or skill your profile does not name is never added, unless you turn that on yourself.

A diff you can read

Every rewritten bullet is shown beside the original, with a switch. Turn one off and the original line is used. The PDF that goes to the employer is rebuilt from the changes you left on, so when you review first, the version you approved is the version that is uploaded.

To keep the resume to one page, the bullets that match the posting least may be left off, along with a role whose bullets all drop off. You see this in the review, before anything is sent.

Keywords, without padding

Each posting is read for the keywords it screens on, and the rewrite works them in wherever your profile already shows that work: a skill on your skills list, or a term from another bullet of the same job, can be named in a line where that work involved it.

A keyword your profile does not show stays out. If you want it in anyway, turn on “Add the posting’s missing keywords” on your application profile. It is off by default. With it on, up to 10 of the posting’s missing tools and short skill names go on your skills line and may be worked into your bullets, so only turn it on if you can talk about every one of them in an interview. Certifications are never added, and the number checks still apply.

Three modes

  • Honest, the default, only rewords what each line already says.
  • Aggressive reframes the work more freely toward the posting, under the same checks.
  • Off sends the PDF on your profile exactly as you uploaded it.

Projects from GitHub and your portfolio

Add your GitHub or a portfolio and AI writes project entries from them. For each posting, the ones whose keywords overlap the most go on that tailored resume, so a backend role gets your backend projects.

Project entries are not put through the number checks above, and on autopilot they go out without you reading them first, so look over the entries on your application profile once they are written.

Part of every application

Tailoring is not a separate tool you visit. It runs for each application HirecraftApp prepares, right before the form is filled, and it is included in Pro. Read how the AI is used, in full, on the AI disclosure page.

Questions

Will HirecraftApp lie on my resume?

No. Honest mode, the default, only rewords what your resume already says. A rewrite cannot add a number your original did not carry or drop one it did, and titles, employers, dates, degrees and certifications are never rewritten. These checks run in code after the AI answers.

Does tailoring help my resume get past keyword filters?

It uses the posting's own words for skills and work your resume already shows, which is what keyword screens look for. It will not add a skill you do not have unless you turn on the switch for missing keywords yourself.

Can I undo a change?

Yes. Every rewritten line sits beside the original with a switch. Turn it off and the original is used in the PDF that is uploaded.

What does the tailored resume look like?

A clean, single-page PDF rebuilt from your application profile for each posting. If you would rather send your own file untouched, set tailoring to Off and the PDF you uploaded is sent as it is.

Is my resume used to train AI?

No. Your profile, answers and resumes stay in your account and are never used to train anything, and deleting your account removes them.
